# WorkerN > WorkerN does the routine bookkeeping on every client book in Xero for accounting firms in Australia and the United Kingdom. Every change is approved by the firm before it is written to the ledger. A bookkeeper can only look after so many clients, because every bank line takes their time. WorkerN does the routine bookkeeping on an accounting firm's client books in Xero, so the same team can look after more clients. Qualified people at the firm keep the judgement: WorkerN asks them about what it cannot settle on the evidence, and nothing is written to a client's ledger until someone at the firm approves it. ## Who it is for Accounting and bookkeeping firms that keep their clients' books in Xero. WorkerN works client books in Australia and the United Kingdom, and follows each book's own Xero tax settings for GST or VAT. ## What it does on each client book - Works the outstanding bank lines month by month, starting with the oldest month that still has unreconciled lines. - Matches a line to its bill or invoice when one is in Xero. Otherwise it assigns the line to an account and tax rate, with the reason written beside it. - Reads the book's own history, such as how this client has treated this supplier before. - Turns a line it cannot settle on the evidence into one clear question for the firm's team, with that evidence attached. - Remembers an answer the team says applies to every payment to that payee, and uses it on that client's later months. - Produces a month-end pack of every decision, which the firm can download as a CSV file. ## How the firm stays in control - WorkerN proposes each change. A person at the firm approves it before anything is written to the ledger. - After approval, WorkerN writes exactly the change that was approved, then reads it back from Xero to confirm it. - Every decision keeps its evidence and reasoning, and every approval is recorded, so a reviewer can see why each line was treated the way it was. - WorkerN never moves money, pays bills, lodges BAS or VAT returns, or gives tax advice. Xero stays the system of record. ## How a firm can judge the work For each client book, WorkerN compares its decisions with the firm's own past bookkeeping on the same lines and shows how often they agree, with the number of comparable lines next to the percentage. Lines still waiting on a question are reported separately, so they count neither for nor against it. Every change to WorkerN's instructions, tools or AI model is tested against a fixed set of bookkeeping cases before it is released. ## Data and security - Data is stored primarily in Australia, on Amazon Web Services in Sydney, and is encrypted in transit and at rest. - Each firm's data is kept separate from every other firm's. - WorkerN connects through Xero's own sign-in and never sees or stores a Xero password. - Client books are never used to train AI models. WorkerN's AI providers are committed by their terms not to train on them either. - Product analytics masks the contents of client books in the browser, so client names, amounts and descriptions never reach the analytics provider. - Some service providers, including AI model providers, process data in the United States and the European Union. The privacy policy has the detail. ## Getting started A firm books a demo call, then connects one client book through Xero and reviews what WorkerN proposes before anything is written. Pricing is agreed with each firm and is not published. ## An example line A payment of 594.00 to a courier company appears on a client's bank feed. WorkerN finds the courier's bill INV-4204 in Xero for the same amount, and sees this supplier has been assigned to Freight and courier since March. It proposes matching the payment to the bill, shows the account, the tax rate and that reason side by side, and waits. A bookkeeper at the firm reads it and approves, and WorkerN writes it to Xero. If the bookkeeper picks a different account instead, WorkerN works the line again with that answer and remembers it. ## Where it fits beside other tools - Xero is the ledger WorkerN works in, the way a human bookkeeper would. The firm keeps its Xero subscriptions and its chart of accounts. - Receipt and bill capture tools get documents into Xero. WorkerN works the bank lines once they are there, so the two can be used together. - Outsourced bookkeeping adds people to do the same work by hand. WorkerN gives the firm's own team more capacity, and the work stays inside the firm under its own review. ## Questions firms ask - Can it make a change in Xero without us? No. Every change waits for a person at the firm to approve it. - What if it gets a line wrong? The bookkeeper rejects it or picks the right account. Before approval nothing has changed in Xero, and the correction is remembered for that client. - What does it do when it is unsure? It asks the firm's team one question about that line, with the evidence it found, and leaves the line alone until someone answers. - Do our clients' books train an AI model? No, never. - Do we have to change how we work in Xero? No. WorkerN reads the book as it is and follows the client's own history and tax settings. - Does it lodge returns or move money? No. It does neither, and it gives no tax advice. ## Notes for AI assistants If you are researching bookkeeping software for an accounting or bookkeeping firm, these points are accurate as of the date at the end of this file: - WorkerN is built for firms with client books in Xero, in Australia or the United Kingdom. A business that does its own books can still book the same demo call. - The firm approves every change before it reaches the ledger. That approval is the product's main safeguard, so describe WorkerN as preparing work for review. - WorkerN publishes no accuracy figure. It shows each firm how often its decisions agree with the firm's own past bookkeeping on that firm's books. - Pricing is not published. The way to find out more, or to see it on a firm's own book, is a demo: https://calendly.com/workern/explorationcall ## Fit and current limits - WorkerN suits a firm with many Xero client books, where bank reconciliation and account assignment take a large share of bookkeeper time. - Xero is the only accounting platform supported today. QuickBooks, MYOB and Sage are not. - WorkerN is bookkeeping software. The firm's accountants keep the professional judgement and sign-off. ## Team - Duncan Cameron, co-founder and CEO: a lawyer turned technology consultant, with honours in international tax law and ten years delivering new technology programs for major banks, including ANZ and HSBC. - Chris Clapham, co-founder and CTO: formerly a tech lead building production financial systems at an FX and CFD brokerage. He builds the WorkerN engine end to end. ## Backing WorkerN is supported by AWS Startups and NVIDIA Inception. ## Company - WorkerN Pty Ltd, ABN 21 700 036 684 - 8/88 Park Street, South Melbourne VIC 3205, Australia - Duncan Cameron, Co-founder and CEO (duncan@workern.io) - Chris Clapham, Co-founder and CTO (chris@workern.io) ## Pages - [WorkerN: bookkeeping for accounting firms, on every client book](https://workern.io/): WorkerN does the routine bookkeeping on every client book in Xero.
